Visions for Chicago: a mayoral election season political yard-sign project
TIMES ARE CHANGING IN CHICAGO
AND IT IS TIME TO OPEN UP OUR IMAGINATIONS
ABOUT WHAT WE WANT THIS CITY TO BE
And you know how elections (even though they are important) can feel so frustrating because they are just about candidates personalities, fundraising and vague short-term plans?
Well this year we can use the exciting political opening caused by Richard Daley’s decision not to run again to really imagine and articulate what kind of city we want to live in. And we can use yard signs – the street-level symbol of politics – to express those long-term and ambitious visions.
+ Hundreds of blank yard-signs are being given to Chicagoans to write and draw their visions on
+ And a website and book are being made featuring photographs of people with their home-made yardsigns in front of their homes
+ And teams of people will be going out doing collective sign installations in public places
If you are interested in making a sign as an individual or a group get in touch. There is group sign-making on Feb 5th in Logan Square and signs can be delivered on Feb 12th
