We Just released the latest issue of AREA Chicago. Check out the full contents, and read my editorial intro. The issue was co-edited with Micah Maidenberg and Aaron Sarver from our Advisory Group and was the first issue to ever be preceded by a seminar where the authors presented and discussed ideas many months in advance. The prep period proved to be useful, as I think this issue departed from the pattern of celebrating marginal culture and dealt more with policy and history. We will of course continue to deal with marginal culture and grassroots activism, this is just an opportunity to step back. We have already heard that this issue has been used in reading groups of radical teacher organizing, so that is exciting.
